The Coppell swim and dive program delivered a strong and efficient performance at the 2026 UIL Class 6A State Swimming & Diving Championships in Austin, earning multiple A Final finishes, school records, relay qualifications, and state points while competing against the deepest field in Texas.
To qualify for the state meet, athletes were required to place in the top six at the district meet and then the top two at the regional meet two weeks later, making state qualification a significant achievement on its own.
Coppell’s state qualifiers included Gabriel Campos (200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke), Abhinav Agnihotri (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke), Alice Lu (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle relay), Emma Wei, Brynlee McCormick, and Cynthia Zhao. Chloe Chang and Samantha Zavala served as state alternates.
On the boys' side, Coppell finished 15th overall in the final team standings, scoring 54 points and placing among the top programs statewide.
Senior Gabriel Campos delivered a standout meet, breaking school records in both of his events. He placed fifth in the 200-yard individual medley and seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning two A Final finishes and significant team points for the Cowboys.
Junior Abhinav Agnihotri also turned in an exceptional performance, breaking the school record in the 100-yard backstroke while finishing fourth overall in that event. He added a sixth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, giving Coppell multiple A Final appearances in sprint events.
Coppell closed the meet with a team performance that contributed to the Cowboys’ top-15 overall finish.
On the girls side, junior Alice Lu advanced to the B Final in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing among the top competitors at the state meet after previously breaking the school record in the event earlier in the season. Lu also competed as part of Coppell’s 400-yard freestyle relay, alongside Emma Wei, Brynlee McCormick, and Cynthia Zhao, giving the Cowgirls relay representation on the final day of competition.
Senior Emery Darrow represented Coppell in girls 1-meter diving, placing 15th overall at state. Darrow had previously broken the school record at the district meet and earned an All-American qualifying score, capping her high school career with a strong postseason run.
Across swimming, relays, and diving, Coppell athletes converted state qualifications into finals appearances, scoring finishes, and record-breaking performances, reinforcing the program’s continued growth and competitiveness at the UIL 6A level.
With a top-15 boys finish, multiple A Final swims, and representation across individual events, relays, and diving, Coppell closed the season with momentum and a strong presence on the state stage.
